MET Offers Novel CFB-FGD Technology

Circulating Fluidized Bed Flue Gas Desulfurization System

An advanced circulating fluidized bed flue gas desulfurization (CFB-FGD) system that provides the proper chemistry and conditions to simultaneously and effectively absorb sulfur dioxide, acid gases, fine particulate and associated heavy metals. This multi-pollutant control technology demonstrates advantages over conventional dry and semi-dry technologies by minimizing water consumption, improving reagent usage and producing no waste water streams.

Performance capabilities include:

  • SO2 removal of up to 98+%
  • SO3 removal of up to 98+%
  • HCl / HF removal of up to 98+%
  • Mercury removal of up to 90+%

Differentiation

MET secured a license from Zhejiang University's Institute of Thermal Power Energy (ITPE) to supply this differentiated CFB-FGD technology which features Multi-Stage Humidification (MSH). MSH is a key design that promotes high system reliability and ease of operation, in addition to maximizing residence time for reaction and boosting SO2 removal efficiency.

Determining to utilize Wet or Dry FGD technology is dependant upon a vartiety of factors. MET's Dry CFB-FGD system offers the following advantages over conventional wet FGD technology:

  • lower capital cost
  • less water consumption
  • smaller footprint
  • less by-product disposal
  • operational stability
  • multi-pollutant removal
  • lower power consumption
  • separate control of reagent and water
