Magnesium Oxide

A re-generable process utilizing magnesium oxide slurry to react with that forms magnesium sulfite / sulfate. The generated solids are calcined to produce SO2 gas and reusable magnesium oxide. The SO2 is subsequently processed to generate sulfuric acid.

Benefits:

  • No sludge by-product
  • Production of marketable by-product - sulfuric acid

Commercially Proven:

  • 25+ years of commercial operation at Potomac Electric Power's Dickerson Unit 3
  • 36+ years of commercial operation at Boston Edison's Mystic Unit 6
